Gift

Significant multi-year commitment to the College of Education and Human Services, providing resources to three existing scholarship funds previously created by the family to support current and future teachers; creating the new Rogers Badgett Sr. Student Assistance Fund with the purpose of eliminating barriers of entry aspiring teachers face; establishing an endowed professorship in each teacher education area offered at èßäÉçÇøapp State; and creating a new fellowship for graduate students in education training programs.

Impact

With 74% of teachers in the 18-county western Kentucky region being graduates of èßäÉçÇøapp State, the Badgett Family’s generous new gift will impact the educational landscape across the region by making high-quality education programs available to scores of current and future teachers. This recent gift deepens the already immense impact that the Badgett family has had on teacher education at èßäÉçÇøapp State and throughout the region. With many of their scholarships targeted at nontraditional students and those transitioning from two-year community colleges, their generosity makes life-changing differences in the lives of these aspiring educators. With this new gift supporting both student scholarships as well as professorships, it will also enhance èßäÉçÇøapp State’s ability to attract and retain high-quality faculty, enriching the educational experience for students.

Inspiration

The Badgett Family is among èßäÉçÇøapp State’s most supportive donors with a passion for strengthening the educational landscape in the western Kentucky region. The family’s legacy of supporting education began many years ago and honors the memory of Mr. J. Rogers Badgett, founder of the Badgett Construction Company and Badgett Mine Stripping Corporation, who strongly believed in the value of earning an education.
