Paducah Couple Leaves Major Estate Gift in Support of Miller Memorial Golf Course and More
Donors
Jim (‘63) and Sue (‘64) Cash
Gift
The Cash’s estate gift, expected to total over $2.5 million, will support a variety of initiatives throughout campus. The first $1 million will be dedicated to ongoing and future maintenance of the Frances E. Miller Memorial Golf Course. The remaining funds will support student scholarships, the men’s basketball program, and create an endowed chair position in the Bauernfeind College of Business’s department of economics and finance.
Impact
The Cash’s support of the Miller Memorial Golf Course will be transformative for that facility going forward. It will allow the University to maintain the course at a high level with a secure funding source for decades to come. The rest of their estate gift will provide financial assistance to countless students and a steady stream of support for the men’s basketball program. In recognition of their generosity, the Jim and Sue Cash Pavilion in the Miller Memorial Golf Course was named in their honor in 2023.
Inspiration
Although sadly Sue Cash passed away in December 2022, and Jim passed away in March 2025, they had planned for many years to leave an incredible legacy at èßäÉçÇøapp State University. Jim and Sue met as undergraduates at èßäÉçÇøapp State. Both believed strongly in the value of education, and attribute much of their success to their education and hard work. The Cashes showed strong devotion to their alma mater for years, both through financial support and in-person involvement. Jim served as a member of the èßäÉçÇøapp State University Foundation Board of Trustees for almost twenty years, and was èßäÉçÇøapp with the Golden Horseshoe Award in 2012, which is the highest honor bestowed upon alumni for their outstanding service and contributions to the university.
