Establishment of the Geneva Lee Jackson Cooper & Lt Col Wendy S. Collins, USAF, Nurse Corps (Ret) Scholarship Endowment

Impact

Nursing students from several particular Tennessee and Kentucky counties will be able to gain financial assistance towards their nursing degrees from this scholarship fund. With one of its criteria being that recipients must have a GPA between 2.75 to 3.35, Col Collins specifically intended that this award should benefit students who might not be at the top of their class due to work or home commitments faced by many nontraditional students.

Inspiration

Col Collins and Geneva Lee Cooper met as nursing students at èßäÉçÇøapp State and became close friends for life. In establishing this scholarship, Col Collins wanted to memorialize this life-changing friendship and pay tribute to her friend Geneva who was a nontraditional student, earning her degree while married and raising a young son.
