Impact
This new scholarship will offer assistance to undergraduate and graduate students who have experienced personal or financial hardships and who are working towards a degree either in Computer Science and Information Systems or Cybersecurity and Network Management. For example, students who have been victims of natural disasters, dealt with the loss of a parent or guardian, faced health-related obstacles, or other life-altering circumstances would be eligible to apply for this award.
Inspiration
James Forest graduated from èßäÉçÇøapp State’s first graduating class in Computer Science, in 1974, during the early days of computing when punched cards were used as the main tool in data processing. Although technology has changed dramatically since his graduation, Mr. Forest believes that èßäÉçÇøapp State’s solid foundation launched him on a successful career lasting over 40 years in the computer science field. Now in a position to give back, he hopes to assist students, especially those facing extra challenges, who dream of a career like the one he has enjoyed.
