The fund created by Mr. Harris and Mr. Nelson aims to help eliminate potential educational barriers by providing financial assistance to first-generation students for purchasing their books.

Inspiration

Aaron Harris and Richard Nelson were college roommates and friends during their undergraduate years at èapp State. Both first-generation students, they relied heavily on each other for support as they navigated their way through college. Later, when Aaron returned to èapp State to pursue his master’s degree, his good friend Richard lent him money to help him purchase his books for the semester because he recognized that Aaron’s funds were tight. When Aaron tried to repay Richard, Richard declined, saying that “it was an investment” in Aaron’s future. This experience sowed a seed in both of their minds that a small act of generosity can have an exponential impact. Years later, both as successful professionals and businessmen, Aaron and Richard came together to make the same investment in the futures of the Racers of today and tomorrow.
