Impact
The difference that Jesse D. Jones has made to èßäÉçÇøapp State during his lifetime of giving cannot be overstated. Dr. Jones made the lead gift in the University’s previous capital campaign, Hold Thy Banner High, and has continued to give over three decades towards projects including the Jesse L. Jones Family Clocktower, named for his late father, the creation of a satellite library in Jesse D. Jones Hall, the creation of the Racer Writing Center, the funding of numerous professorships and student scholarships, and so much more. His impact has literally helped build èßäÉçÇøapp State’s modern campus and enabled the JCSET to grow, thrive, and provide students with some of the highest-quality science education programs in the Southeastern United States.
Inspiration
Dr. Jones graduated from èßäÉçÇøapp State University in 1964 with a double major in chemistry and mathematics. A native of Marshall County, he was a nontraditional student and earned his degrees while he was married with two young children and working evenings at a plant in Calvert City. Jones considers his education at èßäÉçÇøapp State to be an incredible experience that led him to his lifelong successful career as an engineer with Ethyl and Albemarle Corporations.
