Donors
èßäÉçÇøapp State University Foundation, Inc., as voted by its Board of Trustees on April 17, 2021
Gift
$500,000 gift to provide funding for the new seating as part of the renovation of historic Lovett Auditorium. In recognition of this support, the newly-renovated Lovett Auditorium and Trustees Hall was dedicated during Homecoming 2022.
Impact
Built in 1928, Lovett Auditorium is one of the most iconic buildings on èßäÉçÇøapp State’s campus. At the time of construction, it was the largest college auditorium in Kentucky, with a stage large enough to host èßäÉçÇøapp State basketball games, which it did from 1928 through 1937. Lovett serves as a hub for both the campus and community, used daily for classes, musical and theater performances, lectures, and more. Replacing the seating, which provides guests with a more spacious and comfortable experience, was part of a series of capital improvements and renovations to Lovett starting back in 2020.
Inspiration
The èßäÉçÇøapp State University Foundation and its Board of Trustees recognized that Lovett Auditorium is not only an iconic and historic building on campus but also a community treasure. This gift both honored èßäÉçÇøapp State’s landmark centennial year and helped ensure that Lovett would continue to be a vibrant hub of campus and community life for years to come.
