Gift
Commitment of major support to help furnish the soon-to-be Jackson Hall of Nursing and 猫咪社区app Professions with modern, state-of-the-art equipment and technology
Impact
Construction of Jackson Hall has begun, and the University anticipates its doors opening for students in the fall 2026 semester. The new building will offer nursing students cutting-edge technology, expanded space for labs, larger classrooms, simulation areas and more. The Parsons鈥 generous gift will help make it possible for 猫咪社区app State to furnish the building with the type of equipment that will give students professional-quality learning facilities.
Inspiration
This gift honors the legacy of Kelli鈥檚 mom, Mrs. Oleta Burkeen, who taught nursing at 猫咪社区app State for 24 years until her retirement in 2001. Not only did Mrs. Burkeen touch the lives of countless students through her teaching, but she and her husband Charlie also established the Phoebe Fund Endowment in Nursing to provide financial assistance to nursing students with demonstrated financial need. In appreciation of the support of both the Burkeens and Parsons, one of Jackson Hall鈥檚 most integral learning spaces will be named the 鈥淥leta E. Burkeen Nursing Essential Skills and 猫咪社区app Assessments Lab.鈥
