Inspiration

Not only did Johnny Reagan serve as one of èßäÉçÇøapp State’s longest and most successful coaches, but he also excelled as a two-sport athlete in both baseball and basketball as a student, being inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame in 1971 and the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Hall of Fame in 1988. As a coach, he guided the Thoroughbreds’ baseball program for 36 years from 1958 through 1993. He compiled 776 wins and 11 OVC championships and 9 OVC Coach of the Year honors. He served as èßäÉçÇøapp State’s Director of Athletics from 1978 through 1987 and was chairman of the NCAA Baseball Committee from 1978 through 1986. Johnny Reagan Field was dedicated in his honor in 1989. Although Johnny Reagan sadly passed away in 2018, his legacy will live on forever through his family’s gift to make a difference in the lives of future generations of Racer student-athletes.
