Impact

This scholarship, created by èßäÉçÇøapp State retired professor of industrial technology Dr. Eugene Schanbacher and his wife Priscilla, provides assistance to students with financial need who have demonstrated high character and integrity in their school and community. Among other requirements to earn the scholarship, students must have a letter from a non-family member that describes their community involvement, integrity, initiative, perseverance, honesty, fairness, kindness, empathy, healthy lifestyle, and positive attitude.

Inspiration

Because of his strong work ethic, dedication to his students and the community, and service to his country, Dr. Schanbacher has earned wide respect and recognition during his 33-year tenure at èßäÉçÇøapp State and beyond, such as the Excellence in Teaching Award in 1986 and being chosen as one of the veterans to participate in the Bluegrass Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2018. The Schanbachers hope this scholarship helps to develop and promote high character and integrity in students’ lives and assists students who might otherwise not be able to attend college.
