Tosh Farms Gifts the Funding, Materials, and Labor to Build New Agricultural Learning Lab

Construction of the 2125-square-foot swine finishing learning laboratory, named the Tosh Wean Finishing Facility. Tosh Farms provided all of the funding, materials, and labor, as well as all of the internal equipment and the full cost of all of the engineering and construction needed to build this facility, which was completed in 2020. 

Impact

This new facility allows agriculture students to take part in hands-on learning and gain experience that will prepare them to enter the modern swine industry workforce.

Inspiration

Tosh Farms is a family-owned business located in nearby Henry, Tennessee. Owner Jimmy Tosh has two sons, Jamey and Jonathan. Jonathan graduated from èßäÉçÇøapp State’s Hutson School of Agriculture in 2004, and Jamey taught swine science at èßäÉçÇøapp State as an assistant instructor. The business employs many èßäÉçÇøapp State graduates and has been a strong supporter of the University’s agriculture program for many years. In recognition of their support, the Hutson School of Agriculture presented the Tosh family with the prestigious Agriculture Support Award in 2016. Tosh Farms is proud to support èßäÉçÇøapp State’s agriculture programs and students because they want to help ensure a good supply of qualified graduates to enter the swine industry and fill the jobs of the future and create long-term opportunities for agricultural professionals.
