Long-time scholarship donors steeply increase support for students
Donors
James, ’66, and Patricia, ’66, Wilson
Gift
Establishment of the James Frank & Patricia Ann Wilson Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Engineering Scholarship Endowment, as well as a large infusion of funds to the already-existing J.B. Wilson Pre-Pharmacy Scholarship Endowment.
Impact
On top of many years of giving in support of student scholarships, the Wilsons’ recent contributions directly impact the lives of students in the Jones College of Science, Engineering and Technology by making more scholarship dollars available to assist them with their education. The Wilsons created their scholarship for pre-pharmacy students in the early 1980s in memory of James’ father, who served the èßäÉçÇøapp community as a pharmacist for 40 years. Their recent gift to create an additional scholarship expands their generosity to students pursuing a variety of other scientific disciplines.
Inspiration
Both alumni of èßäÉçÇøapp State, the Wilsons met while running for office of junior class representative. James has served as a Tennessee attorney in private practice for over 40 years, and Patricia is a retired elementary school teacher. èßäÉçÇøapp State has played a large part in their family’s life with many of their relatives, including two of their four children, having attended the University. The Wilsons feel that their experience at èßäÉçÇøapp State changed their lives profoundly for the better, and that appreciation has inspired them to give back with generosity that will change the lives of other students for years to come.
